Mechanical Engineering Functional Manager

Elite Engineering Services is seeking a dynamic technical leader with broad mechanical design experience to join and lead a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and designers. EES provides engineering offload services to a diverse international customer base. The Mechanical Engineering Manager will be responsible for all mechanical engineering development processes and activities, including definition of specifications, conceptual and detailed design, implementation and verification of mechanical components and assemblies. Ideal candidate will have experience in commercial aircraft interiors/payloads and a strong background in industrial tooling (Composite Layup/Mold Tools, RTM Tools, Assembly/Bond Fixtures, Drill Fixtures, etc.). Experience in a consumer product development environment is also strongly desired.

As Manager, this individual will be responsible for the processes, people, budget, and equipment needed to deliver products with technical quality meeting cost and schedule of the multidisciplinary programs. He/She will be responsible of establishing the conditions for the mechanical team to perform development activities, with a right balance between consistent predictability and agility following best practices and processes. Main interactions include Mechanical Engineering, Tooling Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Stress Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, and other design disciplines as required to meet customer requirements within cost, quality, and schedule parameters.





He/She is expected to deliver results within Quality, Delivery, Cost, Service and continuous Improvement goals established annually.



  • Direct supervision of Engineering Team, including responsibility for hiring as the team grows, training, mentoring, and performance reviews, etc.

  • Conduct individual performance reviews and ensure alignment of team to priorities.

  • Managing day-to-day design and development, including assigning and tracking work, reviewing designs and drawings.

  • Work with direct reports to mentor and guide high performance

  • Identify or develop the Mechanical Engineering Project Leader for the multiple programs.

  • Develop career plans and development activities for the improvement of required skills for the team members.



  • Define effective KPIs to track and improve the performance of the Mechanical Engineering team.

  • Define and foster the creation and improvement of tools and standards for the Mechanical Engineering team.

  • Evolve product development team to a well-balanced, innovative, disciplined, and knowledge-based design organization.

  • Lead and support peer reviews, program reviews, and presentations to customers.

  • Contribute to proposals and technical leadership to incorporate new technologies aligned to corporate product portfolio.

  • Perform regular technical interaction with partners and customers.

  • Conduct continuous competitive analysis to learn and adapt new ideas to our development processes.



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electromechanical or Mechatronics engineering.

  • Strong Knowledge in ASME 14.5, GD&T, CAD (PTC CREO, Windchill/PDM, SolidWorks, CATIA V5), Failure Analysis.

  • 10+ Years Professional Experience in Design Engineering.

  • 5+ Years Experience Managing and Developing Teams.

  • Proven track record of effective management and leadership roles.

  • Strong problem-solving skills.

  • Strong written, verbal, presentation and interpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrated experience interacting and negotiating with stakeholders of the development process

  • Desired: Master’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent

  • Desired: PMP or equivalent related certification
